The Punjab Government has modified the transfer rules, allowing female teachers to move to the district where their spouse lives immediately after marriage.
The policy has been updated to provide more support to female faculty members in Punjab schools.
According to the amended e-Transfer Policy 2024, married female teachers can now request transfers to their spouse's district or workplace once during their tenure.
A new category has also been added to the list of "hardship" instances, emphasizing the need to keep families together. The policy also states that transfers under this provision can now be made at any time of year, rather than only during certain cycles.
When female teachers wish to transfer between divisions or districts, the working district's education office must liaise with the receiving district to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
To ensure that this method is transparent, successful, and consistent, additional protocols have been developed. The policy now prioritizes many hardship categories for transfer requests in order to ensure justice.
