Over 2,800 awarded medical degrees at DUHS convocation

The 15th Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) convocation, which took place at the varsity's Ojha campus cricket stadium on Wednesday, granted degrees to more than 2,800 students.

The graduates included 330 students from DMC, 145 from Dow International Medical College, 94 from Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Institute of Oral Health Sciences, 49 from Dow International Dental College, 52 from Dow Dental College, 149 from Dow College of Pharmacy, 26 from the School of Dental Care Professionals, and 83 from Dow College of Biotechnology.

Other graduates include 29 BS Optometry students, 92 BS PM&R students, 20 BS Radiological Technology students, 101 BS Nursing students, 16 Master of Health Profession Education students, 14 Master of Public Health students, 11 EMBA students, three PhD students, ten MPhil students, and two MD students.

Officials claim that whereas female students won 21 gold, silver, and bronze medals apiece, male students only won one of the 66 gold, silver, and bronze awards.

Girls received each of the thirteen Best Graduate Awards. Tanveer Fatima received the Dow Medical College (DMC) Best Graduate Award, which is named for the late Professor Muhammad Shafee Qureshi.

"Respect for human life and dedication to moral principles continue to be our most precious assets in the pursuit of professional achievement," she said.

Prof. Hussain highlighted DMC's achievements, pointing out that the college had completed 80 years of its academic journey and that it was one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious educational institutions, having gained an international reputation in the medical area.
