Following controversies surrounding this year's exam, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced plans to standardize the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) for the following year.
There have been complaints over differences in exam difficulty in Sindh, specifically with reference to the test given by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU), and about possible question paper leakage.
On September 22, almost 170,000 applicants took the MDCAT; however, a number of them have expressed concerns, citing the fact that more than 20 topics were not included in the curriculum.
A single-question bank for upcoming exams is being developed by the PMDC in partnership with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Inter-Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC).
The president of the PMDC and vice chancellors of universities have been summoned by the Sindh High Court (SHC) bench to respond to the claims regarding the leaked test paper on October 9. The vice chancellor of SZABMU addressed the complaints by claiming that 210 reports had been received and were being examined by a committee of subject matter experts.

Candidates are requesting remedial measures, including automatic marks for all students if retaking the exam is not practical, despite SZABMU's guarantees that the exam procedure will remain impartial.
In order to guarantee a uniform degree of difficulty for all students across the country beginning in the following academic year, the PMDC has emphasized the necessity of conducting a comprehensive examination of the test results.
