The district administration of Murree has declared extended winter vacations for local schools; a notification is issued by the Punjab Education Department.
The District Education Authority Murree's chief executive officer announced that due to severe and protracted weather in the hilly areas, winter vacations will be observed in Murree and Kotli Sattian from December 22 to March 7.
On March 9, both areas' public and private schools and colleges will reconvene following the end of winter break.
Heads of schools have been instructed by authorities to make sure that midterm exams are finished before the holidays begin. Exam results must be announced by schools and colleges before they close for winter break.
KP Announces Winter Vacation Across Province
A timetable for winter vacations at both public and private educational institutions has been released by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government. Depending on the climate in each district, different dates have been set.
Winter breaks will be observed in summer zone schools from January 1 to January 15, according to the provincial education secretary.
Institutions in the winter zones, on the other hand, will be closed from December 22, 2025, to February 28, 2026.
Since thick fog and snowfall have hit several regions, particularly steep and mountainous locations, authorities nationwide are instituting winter holidays to protect students and workers from harsh weather conditions.
For the holiday break, all Sindh schools, both public and private, will be closed from December 22 to December 31. Supplementary exams under different education boards will continue as scheduled and won't be delayed despite the vacations.
Additionally, Punjab has announced that all schools will be on winter break from December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026.
While schools in Punjab will reopen on January 10, academic activities in Sindh are expected to resume on January 1.
