Talented Students To Be Sent Abroad On Scholarships: Punjab Education Minister

In a statement on Tuesday, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that the province's colleges will resume their laptop programs and that gifted students would be sent abroad on scholarships.

Addressing a special ceremony at Waqar-un-Nisa College to award shields and certificates of appreciation to college heads who demonstrated exceptional performance in the Rawalpindi Division admissions campaign, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that she was taking every constructive step to advance the education sector.

Out of the 3,000 students admitted to MBBS this year, a sizable portion were enrolled on scholarships, according to the ministry.

He went on to say that, for the first time in Punjab's history, merit was being taken into consideration when officials were posted and transferred, rather than pressure or corruption. He noted that four divisions assigned women to the position of college director.

Senior officials attended the ceremony, including heads of both boys' and girls' colleges, Dr. Farrukh Naveed, the secretary of higher education, Dr. Azam Khan, the additional secretary, Dr. Syed Ansar, the director of public instruction (colleges) in Punjab, Professor Fatima, the director of colleges in Rawalpindi, Professor Sher Ahmed Satti, the former director, and others.

Without education, the development dream could not come true, according to Minister Rana Sikandar.

The minister lamented that the government was following a program of expanding the amount of scholarships available to gifted students attending public colleges and giving educational institutions additional amenities.

He stated that further programs were being started to make it easier for parents to teach their kids after the MDCAT and ECAT experiences were successful.

He assured the teachers that the government would support them thoroughly in their efforts to rebuild public confidence in government institutions.

The Directorate Colleges' principals and employees were commended by Secretary of Higher Education Dr. Farrukh Naveed for their support of government policies, particularly the expansion of government college admissions.
