The government of Punjab has looked into a relief package for students impacted by the recent floods in the area.
For students registered in public schools, Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has suggested to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz that registration and semester fees be waived.
The chief minister's consent will be required to make the final decision, the ministry stated. The fee waiver will be available to students at government colleges and universities in the flood-affected areas if it is approved.
Rana Sikandar Hayat underlined that the goal of this program is to lessen the financial strain on disaster-affected households.
"The government is committed to making sure that no student is denied an education because of natural disasters," he said.
Over 2,000 schools damaged in recent floods
More than 2,000 schools in the province have been totally or partially damaged as a result of the recent floods, according to Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat.
According to Hayat, the Punjab government is working to prevent any disruptions or effects on the education of children in flooded districts.
The minister claimed that, under the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, tent schools had been established at flood relief camps to guarantee the restoration of educational facilities.
Hayat was cited as stating, "I have witnessed faith, bravery, and determination in the eyes of innocent children in tent schools established in flood-affected areas."
Our spirits have also been raised by these kids' self-assurance. No one's desire for education will stay unrealized if the kids continue to have this confidence.
