The new Undergraduate Admission Test (UAT), has been introduced by Pakistan's Higher Education Commission (HEC) as a new prerequisite for university admissions.

In order to be eligible for university entrance, intermediate school graduates must receive at least 50% of the possible points on this exam.

The seven categories that the UAT will cover are engineering, medicine, computer science, and commerce. July is the planned month for the tests.

Up to June 30th, prospective candidates can apply for the UAT via the HEC website. Through the use of a similar test, admissions processes at different colleges will be streamlined, and applicants will receive a uniform evaluation.

The HEC's ruling highlights the significance of this exam for all students pursuing higher education, emphasizing how crucial it is to upholding uniform academic standards across the country.

The purpose of the HAT-HEC exam is to assess applicants' aptitude and competencies for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate degrees. In terms of goal and format, it is comparable to the SAT or GRE.

Test Criteria

• HAT-I (General)

  • For admission to general undergraduate programs.
  • Tests basic verbal, quantitative, and analytical skills.

• HAT-II (Engineering)

  • For admission to undergraduate engineering programs.
  • Focuses on mathematics, physics, and analytical reasoning.

• HAT-III (Medical)

  • For admission to undergraduate medical programs.
  • Emphasizes biology, chemistry, and analytical reasoning.

• HAT-IV (Business)

  • For admission to undergraduate business programs.
  • Includes questions on quantitative reasoning, business-related topics, and analytical skills.

• HAT-GAT (Graduate Assessment Test)

  • For admission to postgraduate programs.
  • It comprises sections on verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical reasoning.

Universities and colleges in Pakistan use test scores to determine who gets into certain programs. HAT scores are also required for some funding programs and scholarships.

The HAT is good for two years. The candidates have two years to use their result cards.
