HEC has finished plans to upgrade its degree attestation system with blockchain, making the process faster, clearer, and fully online without needing to visit in person.
The new system will be completely functional in the next six months once procurement for system development was finished.
The concerned team was instructed by Mr. Nadeem Mahbub, the interim Chairman of HEC, to prioritize the assignment and make sure it is implemented as soon as possible. He was informed that the proposed system would eliminate the need for applicants to visit HEC offices for verification or submit physical papers.
The data of the 25 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that have finished implementing the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system will be automatically incorporated into the blockchain.
Graduates from these universities won't have to submit documents because, following graduation, their degrees will be linked to the HEC blockchain, making it possible to access validated degrees immediately through the Portal.
Degrees and transcripts from HEIs without ERP systems will be submitted electronically via the HEC portal and sent to the dashboard of the relevant university. The documents will be incorporated onto the blockchain after the institution has vetted them.
The entire degree verification process will be done online, and all records will be digitally encrypted to provide immediate, unchangeable access. Degrees will be kept on HEC's blockchain after verification, allowing government agencies, the Foreign Office, embassies, and private businesses to instantly authenticate degrees.
This change will eliminate the requirement for physical documents or manual stamping, making the attestation process completely paperless, automated, and transparent.
