The first-ever "Pakistan Mathematics Olympiad," an incredible new initiative for math-loving students across the country, has been announced by both the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

The FBISE states that the tournament, which is slated for mid-December, is anticipated to be a historic event intended to encourage mathematical talent among high school students nationally.

The PMO is open to all students enrolling in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or O Level and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSSC) or A Level, as well as those with comparable credentials from all other educational programs in the country.

At this Olympiad, competitors will have a stage to showcase their mathematical prowess. The tournament seeks to attract the most talented young mathematicians from throughout Pakistan with an abundance of exceptional prizes up for grabs, such as cash rewards, medals, laptops, and scholarships for entry into top Pakistani universities.

We believe that these prizes will encourage students to pursue mathematical excellence and inspire a new generation of problem solvers and critical thinkers.

Students who are interested can register for the competition, review the syllabus, sample question papers, and more information by going to the official FBISE website at www.fbise.edu.pk/pmo.php. Each candidate must pay PKR 1000 for registration.

LUMS has developed an extensive curriculum specifically tailored for the PMO as part of this relationship. To aid students in better understanding and preparation for the contest paper, a mock question paper has also been developed. It gives them vital information about the competition's format and level of difficulty.

This inclusive approach would enable students from diverse educational backgrounds to engage and showcase their mathematics skills on a national platform.
