The British Council and the Government of Punjab's School Education Department (SED) teamed together on a major project that would boost primary school pupils' self-assurance and spoken English proficiency in public schools throughout the province.
The signing is a significant turning point in the Government of Punjab and the British Council's continuous collaboration to improve English language instruction.
Through thorough training, technical support, and the creation of excellent, contextually relevant teaching resources, the program will concentrate on increasing the capacity of Primary School Teachers (PSTs) and Head Teachers.
This partnership will help 80,000 students by providing training to 1,920 primary school teachers in 480 public schools.
In order to promote ongoing professional growth and improve classroom instruction, 160 District Subject Experts (DSEs) from 40 districts will also receive mentoring training.
Five teacher resource books for Classes 1 through 5 and one head-teacher resource book to promote leadership in English language instruction will be jointly designed and developed with technical assistance from the British Council.
Ongoing peer learning and introspection will be made possible by a Community of Practice approach.
The secretary of the Punjab School Education Department, Khalid Nazir Wattoo, stated, "We are giving our students opportunities to learn in inclusive and communicative environments that will prepare them for a brighter future while also shaping the future of the English language in the Punjab school system by strengthening classroom practices and spoken English language skills."
The British Council's ongoing dedication to promoting teacher development, educational reform, and fair learning opportunities throughout Pakistan is strengthened by this effort.
