In spite of the recent announcement by the federal government of a three-day public holiday in advance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, authorities indicated on Thursday that the establishments that administer the Cambridge O and A level exams will stay open.
All local FBISE exams have been postponed in the federal capital following the government's announcement of a three-day holiday from October 14 to October 16.
Three centers have been set aside for O and A-Level exams, which will go on as usual despite the holidays, according to Irfan Nawaz, the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad.
The E-11, Noor Mahal (GT Road), and H-8 locations are the designated exam centers. He stated that although other educational institutions will have holidays from October 14 to 16, these centers will remain open.
The SCO meeting has prompted the federal government to declare October 14–16 as public holidays in both Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Saturday, October 12, and Sunday, October 13 are additional holidays.
From October 12 to 16, the Rawalpindi administration has mandated the closure of marriage halls, snooker clubs, and cash-and-carry stores.
In conjunction with the SCO meeting, the Pakistani Supreme Court has also proclaimed October 14–16 as public holidays.
The government is taking every precaution to make SCO Moot successful. On special request of the British Council, all the exams will be conducted as per it's regular schedule.
Candidates are requested to reach their respective O/A levels exam centers in Islamabad on time to avoid any issues.
