Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a 15% quota in medical colleges and a 5% quota in federally chartered universities for overseas children residing outside Pakistan.
In addition, every year on August 14–15, Pakistanis living abroad, both men and women, who send the most money home or who achieve excellence in their professions will receive civil awards.
The 5000 children of overseas Pakistanis will also be eligible to receive skill-based training and also benefit from online resources. The country will treat Pakistanis living abroad as tax filers.
In Pakistan, foreign women would be able to apply for government posts with a seven-year gap period to cover professional gaps.
Calling them the "crown of the nation," Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a comprehensive package of reforms, rewards, and recognition for the sacrifices, dedication, and hard work of Pakistanis living abroad.
The prime minister recognized the vital role played by the more than 10 million Pakistanis living overseas, especially in bolstering the country's economy through record remittances, at a gathering that was attended by parliamentarians, governors, army chief General Asim Munir, and federal ministers.
He also extended a warm welcome to Pakistanis from the US, Europe, Japan, the Middle East, and other countries who were attending the event.
Pakistanis living abroad make a halal living in professions including engineering, medicine, and teaching. Shehbaz stated that even though they reside outside, their hearts beat for Pakistan.
Pakistanis living abroad sent $4.1 billion in remittances this month alone, he said, and by June 2025, that amount is predicted to rise to $30 billion.
The prime minister stressed that these payments stabilize the economy and assist the nation in filling billions of dollars in foreign exchange deficits.
