We are aware of the fact that internships are a good way to gain work experience and increase your chances of getting hired. With the job competition very high these days, it has become mandatory to get an internship before you apply for multiple positions. Here we have an impressive list of disadvantages of internships.
Being Treated as an Assistant
It would not be wrong to say that as an intern, you would be treated as a minor person or a representative. Interns often spend their days getting coffee, running errands, making copies, and performing other menial tasks. That is because companies and senior employers take advantage of them and consider them as slaves or assistants. The internship does not guarantee that you would land a good job afterward. It is important that you don’t let yourself be treated like that and submit a complaint to the management as early as possible.
Low Earning Potential
Yes, that is right that internships have little-earning potential. Unlike a full-time job, most paid internships don’t offer a competitive wage, and they are not attracted too. They are only meant to provide newcomers with a chance to get some work experience. You cannot expect anything extraordinary like the internet. What I mean to say is that you would not get any financial benefits.
Keep You from Entering the Workforce
While you are working as an intern, you cannot apply for jobs and cannot earn a living. This is because most of the internships are not proper jobs, but they are only like being a slave. We suggest that you don’t waste your precious time on internships where you are not given many chances of learning new things. Also, you would not be able to apply for good jobs while you are an intern as the employer or organization doesn’t permit that.
