Syed Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, granted teaching licenses in Karachi today to those who passed the nation's first licensing exam.

Saying that excellent education starts with quality instructors, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has reiterated his government's commitment to bringing in highly trained educators through the Sindh Teacher Education Development Authority (STEDA), awarding teaching licenses to more than 600 competent applicants.

He made this statement on Tuesday at the Education Department's license award event held at CM House.

The chief minister granted teaching licenses to 646 qualified applicants during the event, including 195 pre-service licenses and 297 JEST licenses. He emphasized that the test's success rate was a pitiful 16 percent, with only 646 out of 4,000 candidates passing it.

CM Shah sent his sincere appreciation to all parties involved, including educators, government representatives, and development partners, for their steadfast dedication to regional educational excellence.

Three years earlier, he recalled, Sardar Shah had suggested that teaching licenses be issued. He stated, "It was said that licenses should be given to those who are shaping our future," characterizing this endeavor as an essential step in guaranteeing accountability and competency in the teaching profession.

In addition, he expressed concern about the millions of children who are not attending school and emphasized the necessity of evaluating the standard of instruction given to those who are.

He also addressed complaints from the community about the hiring procedure, highlighting the importance of equitable educational opportunities.

CM Shah stated that he hopes to extend the teaching license program to early childhood education and private institutions in the future.

He informed interested parties of the government's resolve to get over practical obstacles and broaden the policy's application.

Celebrating this milestone as a proud moment for Sindh, the chief minister urged all those involved in education to see it as the start of a new era in teaching professionalism rather than its conclusion. Licensed instructors will excite the next generation and help ensure Sindh has a bright future, he said in closing.

The education minister emphasized that the school system would be greatly enhanced by the introduction of teaching licenses. Speaking of misunderstandings, he noted that some people thought the licenses were similar to teacher firearm permits.

He clarified, "At first, we hired teachers without licenses because our top priority was running schools."

All recently hired instructors will now complete training prior to receiving licenses. He affirmed that only certified educators would be hired in subsequent hirings.

The education minister emphasized that teaching should be seen as a service and a responsibility rather than just a profession. He added that in order to prepare the future generation, qualified teachers are essential.

According to the minister, I consider myself to be an administrator of education as well as the Minister of Education, making choices with the advice of educational specialists.

Shehzad Roy, STEDA Executive Director Rasool Bux Shah, Aga Khan University's Dr. Sajid Ali, and Secretary of Education Zahid Abbasi were among those who spoke at the event.
