The Punjab government has ordered all public and private educational institutions in the province to remain closed on Wednesday, May 7. This comes after India launched an attack on Pakistan.
As Punjab was still on high alert, the provincial government declared holidays in all schools to ensure the protection of the children.
Wednesday School Holiday
It comes after a string of Indian airstrikes that targeted Kotli, Ahmadpur East, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, and Muridke, among other places in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Punjab.
In response, Pakistani armed forces shot down two Indian Rafale fighter planes and razed a checkpoint and brigade headquarters on the opposite side of the Line of Control (LoC).
The duration of the schools' closure has not been disclosed by officials, who have stressed that the action is a preventative step given the present security risks. The LoC is still tight, and both countries are encouraging moderation while keeping their militaries at full capacity.
To be informed about safety precautions and school reopening dates, residents have been urged to stay vigilant and use official communication channels. As events unfold, local authorities and the Punjab School Education Department will keep issuing alerts.
All Exams Canceled Across Punjab
The Punjab government has formally postponed all exams that were supposed to take place today, May 7, 2025, at all of the province's public and private colleges and institutions.
The Punjab Higher Education Department officially announced that the decision was made with the consent of the appropriate authority. It is applicable to all tests administered by provincially run colleges, universities, and Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs).
Any exam that was originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, 2025, will now be postponed, according to the notification. But as of yet, no updated dates have been revealed.
