Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, announced a number of youth-focused initiatives on Thursday.
She declared 2026 to be the "Year of Youth" and announced that 100,000 electric bikes would be distributed to schools throughout the province.
Speaking at an Honhar Scholarship and Laptop Scheme event in Lodhran, she made the announcements. According to the chief minister, the Punjab government will also create an artificial intelligence hub in Lahore and IT cities in several districts.
As stated by Maryam Nawaz, the government will start giving out 100,000 computers and the same amount of scholarships every year starting in the following year. Additionally, she introduced the Parwaz Card, a brand-new initiative intended to assist talented young people in developing their careers.
The chief minister gave an explanation for her choice to hold the event in Lodhran, stating that development projects will not just be found in large cities. According to her, the provincial government's development program will give districts like Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Layyah, Bhakkar, and Sahiwal similar priority.
According to her, more students might have benefited from the scholarship and laptop programs' earlier debut.
The chief minister also reported on the status of housing projects, saying that 125,000 homes under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar plan are now under development. Over 70,000 dwellings are still being built, she claimed, while 50,000 are finished.
Under the Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar program, the government will give landless citizens three marla plots, she continued.
