Medical and dental universities are not instructed to halt their open seats, according to the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC), which has prevented them from filling new vacant seats.
According to the requirements outlined in Section 17(5) of the PMDC Act, 2022, the admitting institutions must guarantee admission in all colleges within their respective provinces or regions, according to a letter addressed to the principals of medical and dental schools by PMDC Registrar Dr. Shaista.
The Registrar further said that the standard procedures must be properly followed and implemented in the admitting colleges.
He also added that admissions made under the PMDC's amnesty would not be accepted until the admitting university fulfilled its end of the bargain.
In addition to lowering the MDCAT passing score for MBBS to 50% and for BDS to 45%, the PMDC also lowered the merit for open courses in private medical and dental schools.
The Liaquat Medical University in Jamshoro was deemed the authorized institution for admission in Sindh. The university charged an entrance fee of Rs4,500 per applicant, while the testing agency charged the candidates a test price of Rs7,000.
