Pakistan's University of Lahore and the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have established a collaborative fellowship program for Bangladeshi scholars and students, according to official media on Sunday.

Bangladeshi nationals between the ages of 22 and 45 are eligible for the fellowship, regardless of where they currently reside, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP). A strong commitment to community development and outstanding academic accomplishments are prerequisites for admission.

The fellowship will offer substantial support to academics seeking opportunities for research and higher education by paying for tuition, round-trip flights, an honorarium, and free housing.

The COMSTECH Coordinator General, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, stated, "This fellowship program is a testament to our commitment to bridging gaps in education and research across the Muslim world." We hope to develop a generation of leaders and innovators who will tackle today's issues by supporting Bangladeshi academics and students.

Candidates who meet the requirements may apply via the University of Lahore's and COMSTECH's official websites; the deadline is March 1, 2025.

The project coincides with a fresh push to strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left office in August of last year.
