Major changes in the exam policy of UHS Announced
The 40th meeting of the Academic Council of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahsan Waheed Rathore, in which major reforms were approved in the examination policy.
According to the decision, all written examinations will be completely shifted to multiple choice questions (MCQs) from the year 2026.
Short answer questions (SEQ) will be abolished in all examinations, including MBBS, from next year.
Under the new policy, 65 percent marks have been made mandatory to pass the examinations, while students will have to obtain 65 percent marks in both theory and practical separately.
This policy will be applicable equally to all undergraduate and postgraduate examinations from 2026.
UHS has also decided to conduct nursing examinations in the new MCQ format as a pilot project in 2025.
Practical examinations will be conducted in OSPE or OSCE format, while the weightage of internal assessment will remain at 20%.
The Academic Council also approved a quality assurance framework for the new examination policy under which examiners will be trained to maintain the quality of examinations.
Principals and faculty members of UHS-affiliated institutions participated in the meeting.
