The Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization's (ICESCO) Head of the Education Sector, Dr. Haddy Jatou Sey, was invited to the Inter Boards Coordination Commission's (IBCC) headquarters in Islamabad.
In order to find ways to address educational challenges in all 53 of ICESCO's member states, Dr. Sey, a distinguished education expert with more than 28 years of experience at the World Bank and a former Minister of Basic and Secondary Education for the Republic of Gambia, held strategic talks with Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Executive Director of IBCC, and his team.
Dr. Mallah showcased IBCC's innovative projects during her tour, such as the Model Evaluation Framework (MAF), which uses a conceptual, skills-based approach instead of rote learning to change Pakistan's educational evaluation system.
The forum emphasized the IBCC and ICESCO's common goal of creating a single Model Assessment Framework for ICESCO member nations. Standardizing examinations, improving the quality of education, and giving students the tools they need to thrive in a globalized environment are all goals of this framework.
The significance of capacity-building programs was acknowledged by both groups, which suggested joint training courses, workshops, webinars, and seminars for teachers. Topics including item writing, psychometric analysis, standards-based assessment design, and the use of digital tools to update education will be the focus of these projects.
Establishing mechanisms for the smooth recognition of qualifications and equivalency among ICESCO member nations is another goal of the partnership. This would promote employment and educational mobility both inside and outside of the Muslim Ummah.
The alliance also intends to offer cutting-edge tools, like Question Item Banks (QIBs), on-screen marking systems, and real-time proctoring technologies, to improve the effectiveness and dependability of examinations by utilizing ICESCO's technological knowledge.
The establishment of client-centric services like the one-window facility, capacity-building initiatives, and IBCC's digital transformation are just a few of the recent developments that Dr. Haddy praised. She promised that ICESCO would fully assist in supplying the resources, money, and technical know-how needed to expedite these reforms.
One of the main conclusions of the talks was the suggestion that Islamabad host an "International Conference of All Examination Boards of the Islamic World" in 2025–2026. The purpose of this conference is to give education officials from ICESCO member states a forum to work together on assessment innovation and standardization.
Common issues among ICESCO's member states, like teacher preparation, quality control, and assessment standardization, are intended to be addressed via the planned collaboration. By ensuring that everyone has fair access to high-quality education, IBCC and ICESCO are empowering the Muslim Ummah and combating literacy poverty via a shared dedication to innovation and diversity.
This partnership opens the door to a better future for children throughout the Muslim world by demonstrating a shared commitment to transforming education and encouraging deep engagement among Islamic countries.
