A new computer science curriculum for 2025 has been announced by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), which includes over 14 advanced specializations to match academic study with both Pakistan's digital transformation objectives and worldwide technological trends.
Modern subjects like artificial intelligence (AI), data science, cybersecurity, robotics, and quantum computing are included in the updated curriculum, according to the HEC. Furthermore, it incorporates a professional certification component to guarantee that graduates gain both industry-recognized skills and academic understanding.
The Associate Degree in Computing has now been formally acknowledged as a skills-based degree, the Commission added, creating new opportunities for students looking to develop in their careers.

HEC affirmed that all universities will adopt this new curriculum in place of the previous one. The updated curriculum, developed with input from government agencies, industry experts, and schools, focuses heavily on senior projects and hands-on experience as outlined in the Undergraduate Education Policy 2023.
The reform's goal, according to an HEC spokesperson, is to generate graduates who are prepared for the needs of a quickly changing digital economy.
