CM Punjab Inaugurates Buses for Girls’ Colleges in Lahore

The Chief Minister Transport Program for Women, which includes 76 buses for female colleges around the province, was launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Phase I of the initiative provided 19 buses to women's colleges. On Monday, the CM was introduced to women's college students during a ceremony, and they gave her a bouquet. As she introduced the transportation service and gave the principals of the 19 women's colleges the keys to the buses, she called the students onto the stage.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz toured the buses and assessed a suggestion to equip female colleges with air-conditioned buses. Dr. Farrukh Naveed, the secretary of higher education, briefed her on the initiative. The chief minister was informed that 76 colleges in Punjab would receive buses in three stages.

Nineteen tehsils without access to transportation were given buses in the first phase. Among these tehsils are Bhakkar, Sialkot, Hasilpur, Malakwal, Ferozewala, Shorekot, Jatoi, Fateh Jang, Hasan Abdal, Kot Momin, Jalalpur Pirwala, Kallar Syedan, Pindi Ghep, Manchanabad, and Sharqpur.

Girls' colleges in Nowshera Virkan, Dina, Yazman, Pindi Bhattian, Lalian, Bhawana, Kot Addu, Taxila, Sarai Alamgir, and Pelaan would receive buses in the second phase. Buses will also be provided by Raiwind, Sohawa Girls College, Isa Khel, Allama Iqbal Town Lahore, and Raiwind by February 2025.

In the third phase, which would begin in March or April of 2025, 35 additional tehsils would receive 32 coaches and 2 more buses.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by MPA Sania Ashiq, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information & Culture Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, and Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat.

There were other pertinent officers in attendance, as well as the Punjab Chief Secretary and the CM's Principal Secretary.
