To stop impersonation and other identity fraud during exams, the Lahore Board has formally implemented a biometric attendance system.

First tried during the matriculation second annual exams at the Lawrence Road Examination Center, the new system was designed to increase openness. During the trial phase, biometric scanning was used to successfully verify more than 200 students.

The board is now extending the system to include the Intermediate Second Annual Examinations in light of the pilot's success. It is anticipated that over 35,000 applicants will take these tests, and each one's attendance will be biometrically tracked.

The legitimacy of the examination process has been called into question by instances of identity concealing, impersonation, and cheating that have previously afflicted boards.

Biometric verification, according to officials, will offer a dependable remedy for these persistent problems and contribute to rebuilding confidence in the testing process.

Under the direction of BISE officials, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore already modernized the process by introducing QR-coded online roll number slips for the first time.

Easy access to personal information and slip verification are made possible by the QR code method, which also greatly lowers fraudulent activity during the inspection process.

Rana Sikandar Hayat, the Punjab Minister for School Education, said the department was working toward a fair and reliable examination system by enacting test reforms that the province has not experienced in the previous 77 years.

He said that only two to three incidences of cheating have been reported this year, down from 15 to 20 cases every day the previous year.

The effort, according to the minister, is in line with the Punjab chief minister's goal of achieving 100% transparency in the examination system by the next year.
