The administration of Balochistan has, by court decision, prohibited political activities at all government schools in the province.
The Balochistan High Court (BHC) ordered disciplinary action for the order's violation after considering a plea submitted by Quetta resident Advocate Shabbir Ahmed.
Before granting this judgement, the court stated, "We feel it is appropriate to note that this tendency has become a routine, where students are regrettably being used for politically motivated purposes without considering their future prospects."
Regretfully, this trend is prevalent in the country and the next generation. As a result, the Balochistani government's secretary of education and secretary of schools have jointly and severally ordered that political gatherings and activities on school property be strictly prohibited until further notice.
The government was instructed by the court to ensure that the directives are rigorously followed in letter and spirit. If there is any infringement, the responsible head of the institution will be subject to disciplinary action under the Balochistan Employees Efficiency and Discipline Act of 2011.
Following the BHC judgement, the government of Balochistan issued an official notification that completely prohibited any political activity in all government-run educational institutions, effective immediately.
