Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has given a positive nod to the Rs120 million relief package for flood-affected students.
Standing with the country through difficult times is a tradition that AIOU has always upheld.
A press release from AIOU on Tuesday states that in keeping with this tradition, the university's vice chancellor, Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, has authorized a special relief package worth Rs120 million for presently enrolled students living in flood-affected districts.
According to the university's vice chancellor, the goal is to help students who are struggling financially so they can finish their studies.
AIOU will continue to do everything in its power to advance education and the well-being of its students, he reiterated.
For matriculation and FA (Intermediate) students who have not yet paid their fees, the university has completely waived the current semester's (Autumn 2025) fees; students enrolled in graduation and associate degree programs will receive a 50% fee reduction, according to Director of Students' Affairs Syed Ghulam Kazim Ali.
Additionally, the deadline for admission has been extended to September 15 so that impacted students can easily resume their studies.
The university's humanitarian stance and sense of national duty are reflected in this initiative, which is also a significant step in safeguarding the educational future of flood-affected students.
This university holds the record for the highest virtual enrollment and is one of the biggest such institutions in Asia. AIOU has produced a lot of leaders that have not only achieved success in Pakistan, but they have also garnered huge fame overseas.
This flood grant will surely help those who are in dire need of assistance. The university aims to play its part in social action projects for the betterment of society.
