An 80-year-old Karachi citizen has recently earned his PhD degree in mass communication from Federal Urdu University, breaking old stereotypes and inspiring young generations.
In its 66th meeting, the Federal Urdu University Karachi Graduate Research Management Council awarded a PhD to Saeed Masood Usmani of the Department of Mass Communication. Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Tauseef Ahmed Khan, who is highly esteemed in academic, literary, and journalistic circles, Usmani received the degree.
"Analytical Study of Audience and Popularity of FM Radio Broadcasting in Karachi" following a successful defense of research thesis and positive feedback from both domestic and international critics.
Notably, he also experienced a stroke and four heart attacks during this time, yet he persisted in his scholarly endeavors in spite of these setbacks. The fact that Saeed Masood Usmani earned his PhD at the age of 80 is intriguing and unexpected.
Dr. Usmani is also known as an encyclopedia because of his obsessive preoccupation with reading. Protests and political conflicts abound in his life.

Seventy percent of respondents stated that FM radio broadcasts have raised people's political consciousness, according to the findings in the research. According to 86% of respondents, radio has helped spread knowledge about government messages, safety precautions, natural catastrophes, and projects.
