Don't Skip Your Meals: Advice For All.

I very frequently hear both men and women happily admitting to skipping meals. "I'm not having breakfast,” exclaims a bustling executive. "Neither do I!" exclaims his secretary. Startled, I ask, "Why do you do this?" They exclaim, "No time, no time," and I'm going to reprint Dave Bowen's piece, "The Myth of Skipping Meals," in their honour and in solidarity with the many others who share this sentiment.

He says, "In the past, people had to either go hunting every day or grow their own food if they wanted to eat." That requires a great deal of physical exertion in addition to labour. Our bodies naturally need energy to produce food. This is no longer required, but it doesn't alter the reality that this is the true design of our bodies.

When you go without food, your body perceives that you are in the wild, perhaps engaging in hunting or farming activities like in the past, and for whatever reason, it believes there is no food in the area. Everybody has this innate survival mechanism in their genes. Your body goes through two phases to keep you from starving when it perceives that food is scarce. First of all, it lowers your body's metabolic rate, which slows down fat burning.

Your body nearly entirely transforms the food you eat after missing a meal into fat and stores it to prevent starvation. If you skip breakfast, your body turns a large portion of what you eat for lunch into fat. Although you may believe that you are eating less, in actuality, you are encouraging your body to accumulate fat.

Eating frequently throughout the day and providing your body with whole foods and water is the answer. Your body will burn more fat while producing less fat, boosting your metabolism, endurance, and stamina. Your appetite will also drop. Recognise that your body is capable of telling you what is best for you. When you're hungry, consume complete foods, drink water, and stop eating when you're satisfied. Repeat as often as needed for the rest of the day. It really is that easy!

My dear friends, missing meals may not be as risky as riding a motorcycle without a helmet, but your body will eventually adjust to your inconsistent eating schedule. If you want to succeed in anything you do, I would advise you to schedule regular mealtimes.
