| PhD Arabic (Literature & Linguistics) |
- MS/M.Phil from IIUI, 2- M.A. (Arabic) IIU (18 years), M. Phil from other Universities in Pakistan, M.A. (Arabic) with thesis from recognized Arab Universities with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 in semester system or 65% marks in annual system. (For Sr. No. 3 & 4 the Faculty shall offer preparatory courses).

| PhD in Computer Science |
- MS/M.Phil (CS/SE/IT) or equivalent disciplines 2 years degree program (minimum 30 credit hours) with research thesis securing minimum 3.0/4.0 CGPA in semester system or with 65% marks in annual system. The equivalent degree holders have to complete pre-requisite determined by department.

| PhD in Software Engineering |
- MS/MPhil (Software Engineering) or equivalent with research thesis securing minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 or with 65% marks in annual system. The equivalent degree holders have to complete pre-requisite determined by department.

| PhD Electrical Engineering |
- MS Electronics (18 years education) in the relevant area of Engineering with minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 in semester system or 70% marks in annual system.

| PhD Biomedical Engineering |
- MS/MPhil or equivalent degrees in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics /Computer / Telecom or any other related field) OR in Basic/Applied Sciences (Electronics, Physics, Computer Science or any other related field) with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 in semester system or 70% marks in annual system.

| PhD Mechanical Engineering |
- MS (18 years education) in the relevant area of Engineering with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 in semester system or equivalent with minimum 70% marks in annual system. PEC registration is mandatory.

| PhD Engineering Management |
- MS (18 years education) in Engineering/ Engineering Management or equivalent with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 in semester system with minimum 70% marks in annual system. PEC registration is mandatory.

| PhD Energy Systems Engineering |
- MS (18 years education) in the relevant area of Engineering or in basic/applied sciences with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 in semester system with minimum 65% marks in annual system. Statement of purpose (to ascertain the preparedness & interest of the candidate). University Admission Test 70% marks.

| PhD Economics |
- MS/MPhil (Economics, Economics & Finance, Islamic Banking & Finance & Rural Development) with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 in semester system or 65% marks in annual system. (Candidates other than economics field will have to pass preparatory course work as a pre-requisite before taking the regular course work of the PhD program).

| PhD Islamic Banking & Finance |
- MS/MPhil Islamic Banking & Finance, LLM, MS/MPhil Shairah/Islamic Studies / MS/MPhil Economics, MS Finance with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 in semester system or 65% marks in annual system. Note: The candidate must have MS / MPhil / LLM level research relevant to Islamic Banking & Finance.

| PhD Physics |
- MS / MPhil (Physics or equivalent) with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 in semester system or 65% marks in annual system.

| PhD Sociology |
- MS/ MPhil in Sociology/Rural Sociology/Urban Sociology, Gender Studies, Women Studies, Social Work, Development Studies, Population Studies/Demography, Criminology, Anthropology, History, Pakistan Studies and other relevant discipline with minimum CGPA 3.00/4,00 in semester system or 65% marks in annual system. The students of other than sociology/ Rural Sociology/ Urban Sociology will take deficiency courses to meet the requirements of Ph. D. Sociology. Applicant should submit a short research proposal (maximum2000 words) at the time of admission in Ph.D. Sociology.

(Only those candidates having MS Islamic Studies will be considered who have thesis on any topic of Fiqh / Islamic Law).
